Upcycle Organization // Outdoor Front Porch Storage Solution

Each month I’m taking on a common organization challenge and tackling it with a thrift store item. I love when great organization solutions end up being affordable. It’s always a win-win.  All it takes is a little patience, DIYing and a great thrift store find! This month we’re tackling all outdoor storage with:

I know the saying goes “You don’t need more storage, you need less stuff”, but there’s times I truly believe that I NEED more storage. For example, our outdoor storage is next to nothing. Literally, we have none. It’s mostly because we don’t have a garage. Yep, you read that correctly NO GARAGE. Being in a townhouse downtown Seattle, garage parking is a luxury. Yes, parking is nice, but what I really want is all the storage possibilities that come with a garage.

A couple things that I’m storing inside our home that I would prefer to be outside are some of Reagan’s (our puppy) outdoor toys and car & bike cleaning supplies. My personal preference is if the item is USED outside I’d prefer that it’s STORED outside. Too much dirt and grime get brought inside, which means lots more cleaning of the home!

I spent months looking online for the perfectly sized storage bench for right outside our front door. While I love that we have an outlet right next to our front door (hanging Christmas lights is a breeze), it threw a wrench in my plan for extra storage. Since it’s an outdoor outlet, it has a large case that extends several inches off the wall. I didn’t have much depth to work with in the first place, but this made it even harder. So instead I decided that I needed to start looking in to two smaller storage options to work ‘around’ the outlet.

Well, these aren’t even supposed to be storage! They’re box plant holders and PERFECT for the DIY I had in store!

Today I’m going to give you a sneak peak at our newest outdoor storage solution and kick off a new series over the next couple weeks FULL of creative storage options for any outdoor space.

Swing on over next week for a step by step tutorial on exactly how we made these seated front porch storage solutions!
