Stop paying big bucks for the newest trend in hair ties ..... Make your own for a fraction of the price. Watch our step by step tutorial to show you how!

Elastic hair ties are one of my new favorite things. As a girl who wears her hair in a pony tail about 99% of the time (I blame working from home ūüôā ), I not only love them for my daily pony tail look. I also love them for the rare occasion that I wear my hair down. Why? Elastic hair ties are create an awesome crease-FREE look. No more straighteners needed!

While I do love these magical hair ties, I hate forking over big bucks for something SO simple. Fortunately they’re just as easy (and quick) to make as they look!

Instructions

The first step is to cut the elastic to your desired length. Don’t worry about a perfect cut on the elastic as we’re going to cut it one more time before it’s done. I measure mine to 8 inches. This allows me to do three wraps around my pony tail staying tight in my hair.

Fold the elastic in half with the shinier side face out.

Tie a knot using the two ends of the fabric. Then work and pull the knot towards the ends from the inside of the hair tie (not the ends). Pull tight to ensure the knot is secure.

If the ends are too long for your liking, snip with a scissor. You can cut on an angle, straight or even give it bow ends. Totally your preference!

So simple and affordable! It’s a perfect project for the DIY rookie to the seasoned pro.¬†With lots of fabric left over, I’m able to stock up on hair ties and put a couple in my purse, work bag &¬†suitcase. I’m yet to see a hair tie that I didn’t want to use.

Wishing that all expensive beauty supplies could be this EASY to make!

This post was sponsored by OSRAM SYLVANIA as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central. I received complimentary merchandise to facilitate my review.

I love the idea of having newly designed and decorated rooms. If money and time were no object, I would spend my days remodeling every room in my house over and over. But then reality sets in and I’m lucky if I have time to CLEAN a room, let alone remodel it! Fortunately bringing new life to a¬†room DOESN’T have to be overly complicated or labor intensive. Working SMARTER¬†with small touches can bring a larger punch than working HARDER! Here’s my top 4 easy room update ideas (and giveaway):

1 Update Decorations

Of course buying fancy new decorations will make any room look nicer, but a more realistic and more affordable way to spruce up a room is with a can of spray paint. You no longer have to consider the color of the decoration you’re buying (since you’ll be changing that) and can open yourself up to so many options including looking through a thrift store! Take a look at¬†my top 10 tips to spray painting decorations before jumping in.

2 Touch up Paint

Fresh clean coats of paint can completely transform a room, but so can touching up old existing paint. When I first painted our guest room a couple years ago, there where a several spots that I messed up & claimed I would touch them up within the week. Yes, that was two years ago. Taking the time to touch up those spots instantly improved the room, making the paint job look much more professional and less dated.

3 Add Pillows & Texture

Pillows and blankets are such an easy way to swap out the look of a room instead of buying new furniture! Mixing up colors and textures will give your room a more interesting and modern look. Don’t let the options you see at a store limit your creativity. Making your own pillow covers is actually the perfect rookie sewing project!

4 Adjust Lighting

The lighting in my room wasn’t doing me any favors. While I was going for a brighter cleaner look, my lighting made everything warmer with a more yellowish tone. I skipped¬†repainting our walls, updating our floors or buying new furniture. I simply adjusted our lighting with LIGHTIFY from OSRAM SYLVANIA using the Tunable ‘real’ White versions. You can find these products at Amazon and Lowes.

You can see how LIGHTIFY lights removed the yellow undertone and completely brightened up our room!

Funnest part? The lighting is all controlled via phone app, so I can adjust in literally anywhere in the world! Want one of your own? Sign up for our giveaway and also get a $50 Amazon card!
