Although I do take very good care of my engagement & wedding ring, I’ve yet to have them professionally cleaned. I kind of hate the idea of leaving it with someone else, although I’m sure it would be safe and come back to me sparkly clean. Fortunately I’ve got a DIY ring cleaner option that does well to compete (and saves so much time)!
Supplies:
- 1 tbsp. salt
- 1 tbsp. baking soda
- 1 tbsp. dish soap
- Aluminium foil
- Old toothbrush
- Small bowl
- Scissors
Cut a piece of aluminium foil to cover bottom of bowl. Fill with warm water. Mix in salt, baking soda and dish soap.
Place rings in the bowl for 2-3 minutes.
Use a toothbrush to gently scrub extra dirty jewels. Rinse the ring in warm water. If you’re rinsing over the sink, secure the drain or be very careful not to drop it in! That’s it! It’s that simple. Watch your ring sparkle!
Now if you’re like me, you’ll likely need a manicure to go with that new sparkly clean ring 🙂 .
May your rings always look as sparkly as the day you got engaged!
My rings are always so dirty. I definitely need to try this out. Your rings look so sparkly!
Years went by where I forgot to take my ring to get cleaned (our jeweler will clean while I wait, usually only a few minutes). Now I try to remember to go around our anniversary so at least I know it gets cleaned professionally once a year!
What a useful tip! Thanks for sharing at Funtastic Friday!
Good idea on cleaning rings. A tip, though, is to use Dawn dish detergent because it has a degreaser in it. If you shower with a shower gel, your rings will shine as well, though they do need the mixture you mentioned to get all the tough dirt. NOTE: Bar soaps or soaps with lotions or hand/body lotions leave a dirty film on your beautiful jewelry. Thank you for your valuable information.
That’s a great idea! Thanks for mentioning!!
Another great way to clean your rings is with toothpaste a soft cloth.but I will definitely try this idea.
Alright so I’m blowing up your comments because I just found your blog (love it by the way) This is brilliant (pun intended) for jewelry!! My husband will be so happy for this because working in health care and in the dry winter of Kansas I use a lot of moisturizer so my rings get so dirty!!! I can’t wait to try it out! I haven’t been able to find anything that works that great yet!
You are just so kind! Thanks for stopping by!
