Right when I thought I had officially lost my mind for holding on to a couple Pringles cans in hope of a DIY inspiration for so long, it came to me (after months of sitting in my craft closet)! Thank goodness because that closet was slowly turning in to one of those rooms in the house that you pretend doesn’t exist when friends come over because it’s so embarrassingly messy. Fortunately this DIY pen holder was serving three purposes: 1) getting rid of those Pringles cans that I insisted on holding on to, 2) making an quick way to find my craft pens, pencils and scissors & 3) the first step in my complete craft closet clean up (hey, pens have to be organized too). More to come on #3 in future posts!
Supplies:
- Mini Pringles can(s)
- Colorful card stock paper
- Scissor & measuring tape OR a paper cutter (this one is my FAV!)
- Tape (either scrap-booking tape or even regular scotch tape will work!)
This DIY is so simple, yet totally handy, you’ll be eating up your Pringles as quickly as possible. Once the cans are empty, wash them out with a damp rag to ensure all the grease is gone before jumping in to the DIY.
My mini Pringles cans are 3.5 inches tall. So I cut my card stock just a little shorter at 3.25 inches by 11 inches.
I placed scrap-booking tape on the back of both ends and middle of the card stock. Then I simply wrapped the paper around the can, making sure the paper stayed below the silver lip on top.
And … well that’s it! A completely simple, yet totally practical DIY storage solution. There’s not much that I love more than a FREE easy organizing solution!

Not only did these turn out super cute, but they’re a great upcycle for Earth Day! I love the paper. It adds a lovely pop of color to your craft supplies! I’m going to have to remember to pick up some Pringles the next time at the grocery store, all in the name of crafting, of course. 😉

Great idea with the mini pringles tins. I’ve always got loads of them. I think washi tape will work well with this project.
