Once in a while, I like to step away from blogging about organizing & cleaning for some fun festive decor tutorials. Especially when they’re as easy as this one!
I LOVE a gorgeous tablescape. It always look so sophisticated and stylish. Unfortunately I rarely have a fancy enough dinner party to warrant something so elaborate. Even if the food was fancy (it’s not going to be if I’m cooking), having extensive custom table decorations for a dinner party only makes sense in magazine and movies. So instead of going CRAZY with big decorations, I used what I had around the house to make an adorable, simple and SMALL decorative touch for my next dinner party!
- Small skinny jars (these don’t even all have to be the same size). I used these old steak seasoning jars that are about 3 inches high
- Painters tape
- Paint brush
- Acrylic paint in your favorite colors
- Protective clear spray
Before you get started on the project make sure to wash and dry the jars fully.
Using your painters tape, create cover your jars with a couple strips in any design you like. Just make sure there’s enough clear space for your paint to go! Instead of one thick coat of acrylic paint, I like to put several lighter coats allowing to dry for a couple hours in between. The paint will more professional with less clumps. Once painting is complete AND dry (seriously allow enough time for it completely dry!), peal off the painters tape slowly to ensure no rips. Your decorations are ready to be flowered! Just fill the jars up half way with water and add a pretty flower to each!
Placing one of these at each place setting ads just the right amount of color without going overboard. Perfect for a simple dinner party.
You’ll never be charge with going overboard on table decorations again!
