I love a new beauty product as much as the next person, but what I love even more is being able to make a pretty great alternative right at home. For those of you who have used Mary Kay Satin Hands, you’ll really appreciate this one! For those who haven’t, it’s a really awesome hand scrub that seems to work magic and make your hands feel like … well satin. While I doubt Mary Kay uses Dawn & sugar to make their fabulous scrub, I think this homemade sugar scrub recipe is a pretty good and super quick alternative!
Supplies
- Plain White Sugar
- Dawn Ultra Hand Renewal with Olay Beauty Sent Dishwashing Liquid
- Small Container (I like to use old salsa jars)
Simply add sugar to the container. I like to fill 1/2 full. Then slowly add the Dawn and stir.
You want the consistency to be of a paste (think peanut butter). Don’t get nervous about quantity because you really can’t mess this up. If you use more sugar the scrub will be grainier on your hands and if you use too little sugar it will just be a bit silkier. So really no matter what there will be a nice result.
Just use a spoon or your fingers to scoop a bit out, rub over your hands and wash! One of the best parts of this oh so simple recipe is that it lasts a really long time! One batch I made lasted over a year.
May your hands feel like satin in less than 5 minutes!

I’ve never tried to make a scrub. I’ll give this one a try.
