I love the idea of having newly designed and decorated rooms. If money and time were no object, I would spend my days remodeling every room in my house over and over. But then reality sets in and I’m lucky if I have time to CLEAN a room, let alone remodel it! Fortunately bringing new life to a room DOESN’T have to be overly complicated or labor intensive. Working SMARTER with small touches can bring a larger punch than working HARDER! Here’s my top 4 easy room update ideas (and giveaway):
1 Update Decorations
Of course buying fancy new decorations will make any room look nicer, but a more realistic and more affordable way to spruce up a room is with a can of spray paint. You no longer have to consider the color of the decoration you’re buying (since you’ll be changing that) and can open yourself up to so many options including looking through a thrift store! Take a look at my top 10 tips to spray painting decorations before jumping in.
2 Touch up Paint
Fresh clean coats of paint can completely transform a room, but so can touching up old existing paint. When I first painted our guest room a couple years ago, there where a several spots that I messed up & claimed I would touch them up within the week. Yes, that was two years ago. Taking the time to touch up those spots instantly improved the room, making the paint job look much more professional and less dated.
3 Add Pillows & Texture
Pillows and blankets are such an easy way to swap out the look of a room instead of buying new furniture! Mixing up colors and textures will give your room a more interesting and modern look. Don’t let the options you see at a store limit your creativity. Making your own pillow covers is actually the perfect rookie sewing project!
4 Adjust Lighting
The lighting in my room wasn’t doing me any favors. While I was going for a brighter cleaner look, my lighting made everything warmer with a more yellowish tone. I skipped repainting our walls, updating our floors or buying new furniture. I simply adjusted our lighting with LIGHTIFY from OSRAM SYLVANIA using the Tunable ‘real’ White versions. You can find these products at Amazon and Lowes.
You can see how LIGHTIFY lights removed the yellow undertone and completely brightened up our room!
Funnest part? The lighting is all controlled via phone app, so I can adjust in literally anywhere in the world! Want one of your own? Sign up for our giveaway and also get a $50 Amazon card!

Ha, I have so many of those little areas that could use a good paint touch up, but it’s definitely something that’s been put on the back burner recently. Lighting is another great way to give a room a new look!
