As someone who wakes up at the last possible minute, yet still wanting to be ready to go at the right time, I’m always trying to find ways to shave time off my morning routine. I pack my lunch the night before & I figured out how to streamline my morning beauty routine, so it only seems fitting to organize my morning outfit selection. My city, Seattle, has two seasons: raining & not raining. Although all my clothing revolves around those seasons, I’m still able to stand in front of my closet for 10 minutes looking at the same outfits over and over hoping that ‘Clueless’ Cher’s closet system magically comes in to my life to pick an outfit for me!
Cher may have been ahead of her time with a computerized system in the 90’s, but I’ve found that the old fashion paper organization method can work with my closet in 2015 with these daily outfit labels!
Supplies:
- Leftover cereal boxes
- pretty con-tact paper
- Thick marker or alphabet stickers
- Scissors
- Scrapbooking cutting tools, optional
- This circular download template or an old CD / DVD
Leftover cereal boxes work best, but in a pinch I opted for what I had, which was a rice, popcorn & graham cracker box. I flattened the boxes and covered with contact paper on both sides.
I then used my scrapbooking cutting tools to cut out the appropriate size circles (outer AND inner circle to make a ‘doughnut’); you can also use this download template or an old CD (it’s roughly the same size). Simply cut out the template, trace on to the cardboard & cut with a scissor. I made 5 of these since my goal was to organize my outfits for the work week, but you could go crazy and add Saturday & Sunday!
Now you’re ready to add the day of the week to each of your labels by either hand writing or alphabet stickers. I recommend labeling both sides!
Finally cut through one side of each of the ‘doughnuts’ so that you’re able to put these on your clothing hanger.
Now you’re ready to plan your outfits!
On Saturday or Sunday, I’ll look through my closet while picking out outfits for the week. Each outfit is ironed and hung next to the appropriate day’s label.
All outfits are ready to go and easy to grab. These outfit labels could be great for little kids as well, making mornings easier for busy moms!
May you now be able to sleep in as long as possible in the morning!

I love this idea! It’s such a great way to keep from wasting time in the morning wondering “what am I going to wear today?”

Thanks! Totally agree. I use to do that ALL the time. I kept thinking if I stared long enough a new outfit would just appear 🙂
