I love the look of our house POST spring cleaning, but dread the process. Don’t we all? So instead of gearing up for one big cleaning weekend each year, I do a little cleaning more regularly. Here’s the top 5 areas that I keep clean throughout the year that make the biggest difference.
1 Cleaning the Fridge | I HATE HATE HATE cleaning our fridge. The best way around it? Have someone (or something) do it for you. I LOVE Fridge Coasters, not only because of the fun print (there’s lots of neat options on their site), but because it’s the ultimate solution for spills, drips and build up in your fridge!
Fridge Coasters are super absorbent liners that fit in any fridge, no matter the type or manufacturer. Put these in high traffic areas like under the produce in the crisper or under the salad dressings in the doors. These absorb moisture drips and spills that mysteriously and inevitably occur in the fridge!
The special material pulls out moisture from spills, allowing the spill to completely dry. This means no more scrubbing, spraying or even scratching spills off your fridge!
Function AND style? Wish the rest of our house could be like this!

2 Toaster Tray | I’m not sure if this is the official name?? Hmmmm. I’m also not sure why it’s so dang hard to find one of these, but there’s definitely a gap in the market! Even though my toaster technically has a built-in tray on the bottom of it, crumbs still find themselves all over the counter and in the cabinets. My solution? After measuring the diameter of my toaster, I found this small tray that fit perfectly underneath. The toaster NEVER goes anywhere without it’s tray. And the crumbs don’t either!
3 Dirty Towels | I’m still at a loss as to WHY Joe & I go through SO many towels and rags in our kitchen (I’d like to think it’s because of how amazingly clean our kitchen is 🙂 ), but at any given time we’re swimming in dirty rags. Until now I had two options: keep them in the kitchen or put them on top of our washer. Neither was attractive and both options were used way too much. Then one rainy Seattle Saturday (which is really EVERY Saturday in the winter) I had too much time on my hands looking for another DIY project to tackle. These cute canvas bags are hung on the back of our pantry door. Dirty rags are officially out of site!
4 Keep the Dishwasher Clean | EVERYTHING goes in our dishwasher. EVERYTHING. I’ve learned the hard way why some items clearly state that they are NOT dishwasher safe. Whether it’s my love of dishwashers or hatred of doing the dishes, I’ll let you decide. If you’re using your dishwasher as much as I am, you may start seeing a film on your plates and dishes if you don’t clean it regularly.
A quick and easy solution just needs bleach and vinegar. In your empty dishwasher, place a bowl with beach on the bottom shelf. Run the dishwasher on a hot cycle skipping the dry cycle. Repeat the process replacing the bleach with a cup of vinegar.
5 Coffee Maker | Got 5 minutes? That’s literally ALL you’ll need to ensure your coffee maker is sparkling clean. As someone who can likely out drink anyone in daily consumption of coffee, I was embarrassed that I couldn’t remember the last time I cleaned my coffee maker. Vinegar is always a popular way to clean, but having spoiled too many cups of coffee with that lingering spell and taste, I’ve got my own recipe that I’m happy to say works just as well!

Love these tips! I’ve tried using saran wrap cling, but it leaves marks on the glass. Fridge Coasters look amazing and the patterns are so cute 🙂

Great tips! I love the idea about the dirty and clean total sense we have rags hanging out on top of our washer machine too! Pinning this!

That idea for a toaster tray is definitely one I can use, I am now going to be looking for one myself!

Great tips! My current toaster does not have a toaster tray, and it drives me nuts. I need to go out and find one. 🙂

Thanks! I was totally the same way with my toaster. Every time I used it without the tray I would just cringe! 🙂
